Structure and Body
Project 2 called “MY Bamboo” require us to design and construct a 1:1 structure for a specific action - CELEBRATION. In groups, we design and construct a 1:1 structure for USJ13 to activate its use. We worked with bamboo and understand the nature and characteristics of the material and demonstrate basic knowledge in construction.
01
IDEA
All 20 of us are divided further into small groups of 5, to think about model ideas for "celebration"
Our group had 2 model ideas.

We finally had a final choice, and we proceed to start building it. It was a hectic schedule but we made it in time and learnt a lot during the 10 days.

REFLECTION
From this project, I really got to understand the importance of communication and group spirits. We hit a rough start in this assignment as everyone kept to themselves and shied away from each other. No one wanted to contribute, and the ones that did had only very little ideas. Group leader already tried his best, but this group is hardly functioning well. After a lecturing by Mr chern, we finally realised how important it is to work together. Everyone started offering help and ideas. I was one of the member in the drawing team, but still went to most of the bamboo construction times, just to help out and made sure we are in the schedule. I used Whatsapp to made sure the drawing team is updated on everyone's progress. We also use Whatsapp to share pictures and measurements of the structure to aid us in drawing it out. It was a lengthy process of measuring, sketching, inking, and hatching. But I had a lot of fun finding the right way to draw it and the correct way of drawing it. However hard the process, the end product was satisfying. The sleek, minimalism of Symphony combined with the tree in the middle created a sense of harmony and calmness. The 7 A2 presentation board was also eye catching, as we took the time to hatched out the bamboo detailing. This shows that I have fulfilled communication skills, intrapersonal skills and thinking and problem-solving skills.
