Semester 02

April 2023.

Modules:

- Architectural design 02

-Theories of Asian Architecture

- Building Construction and Materials

- Social Innovation Project (Sustainable Tourism)

STUDY PLATFORMS

MyTimes - Used to get course documents, lecture slides, and most importantly to submit pdf documentations and tutorial homeworks. Still prefer offline submission for manual drawings as its hard to scan large scale drawings. Also has a lot of bugs on some submissions, and is harder to use compared to the last version - Taylor Times.

Taylor mobile app - Only use this for attendance marking and showing digital student ID. Not much complaints except that 1 of my attendance was not taken.

Whatsapp - Used this for quick communication in group works. Very efficient and can get information instantly, compared to Facebook which I rarely used.

Architectural Design 02

The principles and techniques of analysis, abstraction, and synthesis in design thinking are presented in this subject. These techniques are common to many design professions, including building and architecture. The studio's primary focus is "User and Context", which examines the link between user and natural environment. Students will work on a variety of studio-based assignments in this studio, including an analysis of architectural spaces and construction through precedent studies and an investigation of form and space through architectural conceptualization. Students will then create a modest freestanding structure that relates to the site setting and satisfies user needs.

Theory of Asian Architecture

A chronological survey of the developments of Ancient architecture to Western architecture from the beginning of time to the period of Enlightenment, with consideration of the intellectual, aesthetic, technological, political and economic factors which have influenced the design of buildings. These issues are explored with reference to major contemporary examples and the work and philosophy of significant exponents.
